A total of 100 students studying in 10 different departments of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of a private university in the 2018-2019 academic years participated in this study. The data were collected by demographic questions, semi-structured open-ended questions consisting as well as questions about mathematics teaching in the 21st century prepared by the researchers and through the ‘Mathematics Anxiety Scale’. Yet the evidence of STEM’s positive impact on young children’s development makes a compelling case for engaging learners in pre-K through third grade in consistent, authentic and high-quality STEM experiences. High-quality P-3 STEM learning need not — and should not — be viewed as an add-on to an already crowded set of learning objectives. Instead, states can integrate early STEM opportunities to advance developmentally appropriate practice and young learners’ growth in literacy and numeracy, executive function and 21st century skills. Some of the variables that have been studied with regard to the TPACK framework in science classrooms (such as teachers’ self-efficacy, gender, teaching experience, teachers’ beliefs, etc.) are reviewed, and variations of the TPACK framework specific for science education are expounded upon.
