The Content and Language Integrated Learning course was designed using a cognitive apprenticeship model and was based on principles likely to facilitate students’ written historical reasoning. Methods: Conducted as a quasi-experimental study, students in an experimental condition received explicit instruction in historical contextualization and other features of historical reasoning, while those in the control group participated in a version of the course without a focus on historical contextualization. This paper has a goal to describe author’s method how to teach the history of mathematics. This method is aimed at training math teacher’s profession-oriented qualities. These qualities form a historical component of teacher’s culture of mathematics and methodology. Besides, the paper describes the techniques and results of experimental tests for the efficiency of this method. These materials can be useful for teachers who create a cultural and historical atmosphere on math lessons at school and for university teachers who use historical mathematical ideas in their work. tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT ABSTRACT In this article, I analyze the use of historical counterfactuals in the Campaign of 1815 by Carl von Clausewitz (1780–1831). Such is the importance of counterfactuals in this work that its gist can be given in a series of 25 counterfactuals. I claim that a central role is played by evaluative counterfactuals. This specific form of counterfactuals is part of a didactic method that allows Clausewitz to teach young officers a critical method that prepares them for the challenge of decision-making in real warfare. I conclude with the enduring relevance of Clausewitz’s use of evaluative counterfactuals for contemporary military historiography. Link til kilde
