Their assessment conceptions formed three main factors: 1) assessment measures learning, 2) assessment supports teaching and learning, and 3) assessment as a harmful action. All three factors were emphasised differently in each pattern. Students were 14–15 years old, Swedish grade 8, speaking Swedish as a second language. We examine how different strategies and multiple resources interact in creating thematic patterns in a multilingual science classroom. Data comprise 64 hours of video- and audio recordings, digital photos, field-notes, textbooks, worksheets and student notebooks. As analytical tools we use thematic development strategies, control and social interaction strategies as well as strategies of bridging multiple resources. Paired-samples t-tests were conducted to compare pre-test and post-test scores on participants’ level of confidence in asking focussing, prompting, probing, and redirecting questioning. Findings of the study revealed significant differences in participants’ pre-test and post-test scores for prompting questions. Based on Cohen’s convention for a large effect (d =.80), the effect size for this analysis (d = 0.82) was found to be large. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: We study the usage of a self-guided online tutoring platform called Algebra Nation, which is widely by middle school and high school students who take the End-of-Course Algebra I exam at the end of the school year. This article aims to study how the platform contributes to increasing students’ exam scores by examining users’ logs over a three year period. The platform under consideration was used by more than 36,000 students in the first year, to nearly 67,000 by the third year, thus enabling us to examine how usage patterns evolved and influenced students’ performance at scale.
