It also examined the influence of the demographic characteristics on their perceptions of DAP or DIP. A total of 189 pre-service teachers completed a survey questionnaire describing their demographic information and perceptions regarding their DAP using the TBS scale. Results indicated that pre-service teachers have high perception of DAP on the TBS scale. In addition, there was a statistical significance in DAP due to pre-service teachers’ practicum experience in favor to students with less experience. Nine female adolescent students eighteen years and above: three doing mathematics and physics, one doing physics without mathematics and five doing mathematics without physics were purposively selected. The data generating instruments used were semi-structured interview and classroom observation guides as well as document analysis. Findings show that female students associate scientists within a masculine framework in a Eurocentric environment, specifically those scientists who are depicted in their textbooks. Research followed the pattern of a similar study conducted in Appalachia in 2004. These drawings were used to examine the initial perceptions and how these changed by the end of the semester of methods and field experiences. Findings describe the various drawings and possible meanings behind the drawings. These drawings help explain the vision of mathematics that teacher candidates have before and after exploring teaching methods and implementing these methods with elementary students. Abstract We assessed teacher educators’ task perception and investigated its relationship with components of their professional identity and their teaching practice. Using data from 145 teacher educators, two different task perceptions were found: transmitters and facilitators. Teacher educators who were categorized as facilitator tend to demonstrate higher levels of self-efficacy, job satisfaction, constructivist beliefs about teaching and learning and use more effective teaching strategies.
