eric.ed.gov har udgivet: In this document are a final report and guide from a project to produce a 30-minute training videotape that provided volunteer tutors and paid adult educators with concrete methods, techniques, and activities to help adult learners improve their numeracy skills. According to the final report, representatives of various adult education programs/advocacy groups who had expertise or interest in math were invited to comprise the design team to collaborate on content. The design team also developed the video’s viewer’s guide, “Math Anxiety, a Video Guide for Adult Literacy Tutors.” A scriptwriter, production company, and post-production editing facility were retained to execute the actual production of the video. Eric.ed.gov – Evaluating Math Recovery: Assessing the Causal Impact of Math Recovery on Student Achievement

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The authors’ goal was to evaluate the potential of Math Recovery (MR), a pullout, one-to-one tutoring program that has been designed to increase mathematics achievement among low-performing first graders, thereby closing the school-entry achievement gap and enabling participants to achieve at the level of their higher-performing peers in the regular mathematics classroom. Specifically, the research questions were as follows: (1) Does participation in MR raise the mathematics achievement of low performing first-grade students?; (2) If so, do participating students maintain the gains made in first grade through the end of second grade? Eric.ed.gov – Cross-Age Math Tutoring of Kindergarten and First Grade Students by Middle School Tutors

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: To address the problem of low achieving math students, a cross-age math tutoring intervention paired middle school tutors with kindergarten and first grade students with low math skills. This instrumental group case study explored the effects of the intervention on the math skills of the students through teacher interviews and the testing program of “Aimsweb Plus” (Pearson, 2017) before and after the tutoring intervention. Most of the teachers of the tutees reported measurable math gains possibly from the tutoring and most of the teachers observed improved attitude towards math work for the young tutees. Most teachers of the tutors did not report any measurable math gain from tutoring young students.
