tandfonline.com – Teachers’ perceptions of continuing professional development: a study of vocational high school teachers in Indonesia

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT ABSTRACT The research examines Indonesian vocational high school teachers’ perceptions of continuing professional development (CPD) in the context of changing policies regarding teacher CPD. Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model is used as the conceptual framework. Six accounting teachers interviewed understood CPD as an activity for teachers’ improvement, but in different ways. They perceived CPD as teacher performance assessment and government regulation (exosystem), personal development activities (individual), and some considered religious values when they described CPD. These teachers regarded their profession as a devotion to God and CPD as part of their duty and responsibility as obedient persons (interactional factors between individual and macrosystem). Civil servant teachers participated in more structured CPD compared with their non-civil servant peers as CPD activities are… Continue Reading

But how strong and persistent is the burden of unequal opportunities that each person carries on in their life? In this paper, we define individual indices of the burden of circumstances, which measure the effect that the accumulation of factors outside individual control, has on individual educational achievements in the short and long run. As our findings suggest, the effect of these circumstances tends to persist over time.… Continue Reading

tandfonline.com – Towards a Healthy Indonesia?

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: Abstract Abstract During his first presidential term, Joko Widodo increased expenditure on, and the coverage of, several social protection policies, including the conditional cash transfer program. These policies began in the aftermath of the 1997–98 Asian financial crisis and have proliferated in recent years. This Survey will examine these policies, paying particular attention to implementation problems, including effective targeting through the construction of a unified database. It will also examine both food policy and broader health policy issues. It is widely agreed that health problems, such as those relating to early childhood development, must be addressed in Indonesia in a wider context, including through the provision of clean water and sanitation facilities, food security, and social assistance. The Survey will… Continue Reading

Eric.ed.gov – Local Instruction Theory on Division in Mathematics GASING: The Case of Rural Area’s Student in Indonesia

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Several studies on learning mathematics for rural area’s student indicate that students have difficulty in understanding the concept of division operation. Students are more likely to be introduced by the use of the formula without involving the concept itself and learning division separate the concrete situation of learning process. This underlies the researcher to design division operation learning in the Mathematics of GASING (Math GASING), which always starts from concrete to abstract level. The research method used is a design research which describes how the Math GASING make a real contribution of students understanding in the concept of division operation. Link til kilde

Eric.ed.gov – The Innovation of Learning Trajectory on Multiplication Operations for Rural Area Students in Indonesia

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The rural area’s student difficulties in learning the concept of number operation had been documented by several studies, especially for the case of multiplication. The teacher typically introduces the multiplication concepts using the formula without involving the concept itself. Furthermore, this study aims to design learning trajectory on multiplication operations in the Mathematics of GASING (Math GASING) by focusing more on the concept itself than the formula and by starting from the informal to a formal level of teaching. Design research used as the research method to solve this problem consisting of three phases, namely preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research results show that the Math GASING has a real contribution for students to understanding and mastering in the concept of the multiplication operations.… Continue Reading

Eric.ed.gov – Games for Enhancing Sustainability of Year 7 Maths Classes in Indonesia: Theory-Driven Development, Testing and Analyses of Lessons, and of Students’ Outcomes

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The results of international comparative studies have shown that relationships exist between metacognition and cognitive activation and learning success. Since 2007 we have been carrying out projects in Indonesia to improve cognitive and metacognitive activities of pupils of year 7 and their teachers. These activities are to contribute to the construction and sensible use of sustainable mental models for mathematical concepts and methods by learners. This paper shows how games are used for the enhancement of metacognitive and discursive activities in class. Their effectiveness is documented exemplary by means of students’ outcomes and transcripts of lessons from project classes. Link til kilde
