tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT ABSTRACT This paper presents findings from a qualitative study among 50 secondary school students from 10 schools in the Netherlands, aiming to understand how they experience ‘presence’ – being fully (with one’s entire being) engaged in the here-and-now – in class. Although presence was a non-regular experience, students experienced it as personally relevant for a broadened worldview and becoming more confident and autonomous in their thinking and acting. Using a phenomenological approach, the authors found three general themes, as well as many variations and nuances within them, in students’ experiences of presence, related to the subject matter, interaction and students’ self. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The study described in this report examined whether the use of “daily report cards” (“DRCs”) in elementary school classrooms improved behavior and academic achievement among students diagnosed with combined inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and comorbid oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)/conduct disorder. Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in grades 1-6 were recruited for the study and tested for ADHD to determine eligibility. Following an intake process that determined diagnosis and eligibility, a total of 63 students, each with a unique teacher, were randomly assigned either to the intervention condition (n = 33) or to the comparison condition (n = 30). The study assessed the effectiveness of “DRCs” by comparing behavioral and academic outcomes for the intervention and comparison groups at the conclusion of… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Some researchers report that especially the students of the faculty of arts and science do not have sufficient knowledge of the practicability of mathematics since they are mostly interested in the pure aspect of mathematics, and they have difficulty in using their pure mathematical knowledge properly. So, this study aims to examine the views of mathematics students registered in the pedagogical formation program about the use of mathematics in daily life. To this end, an interview form with open-ended questions was administered to 86 pre-service mathematics teachers. The findings showed that pre-service teachers viewed mathematics as an indispensable part of life, but they treated real-life math and school math as separate types of math and had difficulty in relating them to each other. We recommend the use… Continue Reading →
