ABSTRACT The present study proposes a flexible/soft model for investigating the role of philosophic-mindedness, creativity, mathematics self-efficacy, and mathematics self-concept in predicting math achievement. To do this end, a fuzzy regression model is developed. Two common criteria are used to evaluate the obtained model. Moreover, the predictability of the model is explained. The case study involves 28 male students from Marand, Iran (year 2015–2016) who took part in a test of mathematics achievement. The participants were junior high-school students… Continue Reading

tandfonline.com – Applying a fuzzy questionnaire in a peer review process

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: Abstract This paper introduces the application and the results of a fuzzy number based questionnaire used for evaluating lecturers’ performance in a newly launched peer review programme in order to enhance the reliability of peer evaluations. In our approach, the membership function of the fuzzy number is composed of an increasing and a decreasing sigmoid membership function conjuncted by Dombi’s intersection operator. Compared to the traditional Likert scale-based evaluation, the proposed fuzzy number based methodology allows peer reviewers to express their uncertainty and the variability of the reviewed lecturer’s performance within a single lecture and during a semester in a quantitative way. By utilising the principles of Dombi’s Pliant Arithmetic, fuzzy Likert scale based evaluations given by peer reviewers can… Continue Reading

Eric.ed.gov – The Use of Fuzzy Theory in Grading of Students in Math

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The development of computer science, statistics and other technological fields, give us more opportunities to improve the process of evaluation of degree of knowledge and achievements in a learning process of our students. More and more we are relying on the computer software to guide us in the grading process. An improved way of grading can help overcome some limitations of the educational process, that have caused problems, and had as a consequence a lower degree of success. With the combination of old, traditional way of evaluation of students knowledge and success, and the application of “fuzzy logic” and “the theory of fuzzy sets”, “the method of ponderous areas”, and other new computer and scientific technologies, we are getting a complex formula , that is also, friendly… Continue Reading

tandfonline.com – The Origin and Development of Fuzzy Geometric Programming

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT Formulae display:?Mathematical formulae have been encoded as MathML and are displayed in this HTML version using MathJax in order to improve their display. Uncheck the box to turn MathJax off. This feature requires Javascript. Click on a formula to zoom. ABSTRACT Fuzzy Geometric Programming has been in discussion for 32 years since 1987. According to Cao, the author, he in the paper introduces its development process, aiming to promote this new branch, attracting scholars home and abroad to join in ranks of the research, and helping to solve the three conjectures of Fuzzy Geometric Programming proposed by Cao [Three guess of fuzzy geometric programming. Vol. 147. Springer; 2012. p. 591–594. (Advances in intelligent and soft computing)]. At present, many… Continue Reading
