Trained educators develop skills that support positive classroom management. The study included observations of teaching practices in a random sample of 199 Georgia’s Pre-K classrooms and assessments of the language, literacy, math, general knowledge, and behavior skills of a sample of 1,169 children attending these classrooms, including parallel assessments in English and Spanish of 139 dual-language learners (DLLs). Classroom/teacher characteristics were examined as predictors of the quality of classroom practices, while both classroom quality as well as child/family and classroom/teacher characteristics were examined as moderators of children’s growth in skills. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: A project was designed to evaluate TEAM, a math anxiety reduction program for undergraduate students preparing to be elementary school teachers. The program consisted of two main components: (1) instruction intended to improve problem solving skills using the areas of patterns, probability, measurement, approximation, and estimation; and (2) activities designed to reduce math anxiety and to increase confidence in mathematics. The outcome evaluation for a two-year materials development project consisted of replications of small-scale trials of the materials. Outcome measures included both attitudinal and math concept instruments. Future evaluation research in this or similar programs can concentrate in several areas arising from the development and evaluation of the TEAM materials and course. Overall, this evaluation indicates that the EdTrAc implementation is on track after its first year (2005-2006). The goal of PA PKC is to help reduce educational disparities by providing high quality prekindergarten for children who lack opportunities or reside in environments that place them at risk of school failure. This Impact Study examined the effects of participation in PA PKC on children’s early academic, social, and executive function skills in kindergarten. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The present study investigates the extent to which a program guided by the principles of critical pedagogy, which seeks to develop “critical consciousness,” is associated with the improved academic performance of students attending a low-performance middle-school in Buffalo, New York. The students were enrolled in an in-school academic support program called the “Community as Classroom”, which used critical project-based learning to show students how to improve neighborhood conditions. The study found that the Community as Classroom program bolstered student engagement as reflected in improved attendance, on-time-arrival at school, and reduced suspensions. Although class grades did not improve, standardized scores, particularly in Math and Science, dramatically improved for these students from the lowest scoring categories.
