eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Scores for five subjects (Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in grades 2 through 8) from the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program were analyzed for several hundred Tennessee grade schools. Schools which owned the Accelerated Reader learning information system (a computer program which allows teachers to monitor and manage student literature-based reading) were compared with schools that had not purchased AR. The mathematics assessment program is described as 408 criterion-referenced items divided into seven strands. Questions are administered until a student makes three consecutive errors; then the student is branched to the next section in a strand. At the teacher’s option, the test can be administered in either English or Spanish. Information is also included on equipment configurations possible among videodisc players, microcomputers, touch screens, and printers, and disc capacity is noted. PLATO software had been used in Title I mathematics classes for the last 3 years. The Title I teacher used PLATO software as an integral part of her class instructional strategy. Mathematics achievement data were analyzed for 88 Title I students over the 3 school years. Pretest and posttest mathematics scores were obtained for the Ohio State Performance test in mathematics and for parallel mathematics tests. Four percent of the Title I students scored at the proficient level on the fourth grade mathematics pretest.
