Cumulatively building on earlier research and drawing on iteratively generated data from secondary schools in Sweden, the article elaborates on design principles and task types for constructing CRS tasks aimed at generating mathematical classroom discussions. The study generated three design principles, six task types and 31 empirically evaluated tasks useful for developing and using CRS tasks in classroom practices. A key objective is to encourage colleges to improve retention and academic success for students, particularly the substantial numbers who arrive unprepared for college-level work. The system was designed to operate on an APPLE II microcomputer, videodisc player, and input-output devices. It included three subsystems: (1) a math assessment subsystem; (2) a math instruction/management subsystem; and (3) a staff development subsystem. The system was developed to support diagnostic/prescriptive teaching for mastery learning. Evaluation of the system was conducted both with English-speaking and Spanish-speaking students. The assessment system was compared to a parallel paper and pencil criterion-referenced test. ESSA retains the requirement that states test all students in reading and math in grades three through eight and once in high school, as well as the requirement that states ensure those tests align with states’ college- and career-ready standards. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Scores for five subjects (Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in grades 2 through 8) from the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program were analyzed for several hundred Tennessee grade schools. Schools which owned the Accelerated Reader learning information system (a computer program which allows teachers to monitor and manage student literature-based reading) were compared with schools that had not purchased AR. One reason for the failure is that educational reform stops just outside the classroom door. During the last 25 years, the dominant educational reform initiatives in the US have operated under the misguided conventional wisdom that the educational system is loosely coupled. With this model in mind, decades of educational reform efforts have focused on tightening the system.
