Natural Math also attempted to integrate Seminole culture into math materials. The project originally included only Seminole preschool and kindergarten children. Later, Boley school, located in a rural Black community, petitioned for inclusion. Departing from this hypothesis we conducted a systematic literature review applying the PRISMA guidelines, screening three databases, using search terms related to FLP (building on Spolsky’s framework). After a title- and abstract-based initial screening, 191 retained articles were scanned for a connection between FLP (components) and outcomes. We classify forty-two studies that describe such a link in multilingual families with focal children under the age of thirteen. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This article presents the results of an evaluation of Positive Family Support, an ecological family intervention and treatment approach to parent supports and family management training developed from a history of basic and translational research. This effectiveness trial, with 41 public middle schools randomly assigned to intervention or control, examined student-, teacher-, and parent-reported outcomes, as well as math and reading scores and school attendance. Multilevel analyses suggested that for students at risk for behavior problems, immediate-intervention schools outperformed control schools on parent-reported negative school contacts for students at risk for behavior problems. Implementation, however, was hampered by several challenges, including school funding cuts, lack of staff time to provide parenting supports, and staff turnover. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This project measured the impact of a short series of Family Math programs in elementary grades on student and parent attitudes toward mathematics, student performance in mathematics, and teacher behavior using control (1993, n=89; 1994, n=234) and experimental (1993, n=101; 1994, n=211) student comparison groups and supplemented by parent and teacher interviews. Only two of the analyses showed statistical significance: (1) Students in the experimental group who had prior Family Math experience showed higher gains on standardized mathematics performance measures than other groups, and (2) Parents who attended Family Math reported increased involvement with their children’s schools. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Teachers from the departments of Mathematics and Computer Science, and Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater collaboratively developed and implemented an evening math event, “Family Math Fun Night,” at local elementary schools. As an assignment, preservice elementary teachers developed hands-on mathematical activities, adaptable for different ages and abilities, to engage children and parents. The pre-service elementary teachers presented a variety of activities at each school site to small groups of families and school personnel. A total of 95 studies of family involvement are reviewed.
