In this paper, we systematically review the psychiatric research performed in the cohort until today, i.e. at the age of 32 years of the cohort (2018). We conducted a systematic literature search using the databases of PubMed and Scopus and complemented it with a manual search. We found a total of 94 articles, which were classified as examining ADHD, emotional and behavioural problems, psychosis risk or other studies relating to psychiatric subjects. Studies were identified through searches of electronic databases (SCOPUS, PubMed, ERIC, and Web of Science). The authors included articles published between 1 January 2000 and 31 October 2017. Eleven publications met the inclusion criteria, and seven studies had observational designs. The studies focused on teachers’ attitudes and experiences, the use of abacus, tactile graphics, and the development of mathematical concepts. The results showed that the studies had different aims and methods, and only four studies reported eye disorder diagnoses. The aim of this review was to gain a comprehensive understanding on the effectiveness of life skills education globally, and to identify research gaps and priorities. Findings revealed differences in life skills education within developing countries and developed countries. In general, developed countries conduct more systematic life skills education programs promoting positive behavior, with research articulating outcomes on individual youth. In contrast, the majority of developing countries’ life skills programs lack systematic implementation, evaluation and monitoring. Programs are often conducted to yield short term results only.
