Assessing reading skills, specifically comprehension, is difficult. In the middle grades, students read to learn; and their teachers need a quick, easy assessment that provides immediate data on reading comprehension skill. This study explores the holistic validation approach of one eighth-grade informational text with comprehension questions currently included in the Adolescent Comprehension Evaluation (ACE). Thirty-three eighth-grade students from four different schools participated in the study. Multiple forms of validity evidence were used including test content, response process, internal structure, relationship to other variables, and consequences of testing. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This study examined uses of adolescent literature included secondary teacher preparation in English, math, science, and social studies education at 12 institutions. Analyses revealed programs emphasized adolescent literature in a variety of ways and most often in courses for English majors. Only two institutions required that prospective math, science, and social studies teachers take literacy courses. References to adolescent literature in syllabi other than English/literacy education courses were almost nonexistent. Adolescent literature was primarily used (a) to ensure knowledge of texts, (b) to address issues of diversity in the classroom, and (c) as a means of effective classroom instruction. Two hundred sixty orphans aged 14–16, residing in Central Kazakhstan, were examined to determine the aptitude of orphan asylum adolescents to certain professions. Statistical analysis of male and female groups (p ≤ 0.002) found differences in the following characteristics. The typical spheres for girls were ‘individual-individual’ and ‘individual-imagery’. They focused on communication in professional activity and creativity. The typical spheres for girls were ‘individual-machinery’ and ‘individual – semiotic system’. In Brazil, a psychodevelopmental project of teen motherhood has gained traction despite many experts’ long-standing commitment to psychodynamic psychiatry and social epidemiology, generating epistemic tension rather than substitution. Drawing on historical ethnography conducted in Southern Brazil, I explore how this project materialized through the co-production of epistemic struggles, remedial interventions, and ontological politics. The present study is a feasibility trial that evaluates a prevention programme that teaches cognitive reappraisal, acceptance and problem-solving strategies. Ninety-six Year 10 high school students were randomly allocated to either the intervention or control condition. All participants completed scales evaluating emotion regulation difficulties, depression, anxiety and anger at baseline, post-intervention and at 6-month follow-up. In addition, the intervention condition completed a workshop evaluation questionnaire at post-intervention that included qualitative items.
