eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This program evaluation assessed the utility and efficacy of lead4ward toward facilitating meaningful instructional planning, and improving STAAR reading, English language arts, and math performance of students whose teachers participated in lead4ward professional development. A web-based survey on HISD’s HUB yielded responses from 340 educators who had direct exposure to lead4ward. The highest percentages of respondents found that lead4ward was closely aligned to TEKS (87.1). In addition, 79.0% of respondents indicated that they used lead4ward in grade level, developmental planning, and PLCs meetings. Nearly 70.0% of respondents noted that the Field Guides were helpful in planning and implementing lessons well (69.8%). Respondents found that lead4ward resources improved proficiency among students “more than a little” in mathematics, English language arts/reading, science, social studies, teacher induction, and intervention/RTI. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Since its inception in 2002, the National Center for Education Research (NCER) in the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) has funded over 700 education research grants and over 60 education training grants. The research grants have supported exploratory research to build theory or generate hypotheses on factors that may affect educational outcomes, development and innovation research to create or refine academic interventions, evaluation studies to test the efficacy and effectiveness of interventions, and measurement work to help develop more accurate and valid assessments, and the training grants have helped prepare the next generation of education researchers. NCER’s education research grantees have focused on the needs of a wide range of students, from pre-kindergarten through postsecondary and adult education, and have tackled a variety of topic areas. The… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: As a part of the teacher licensure program at the graduate level at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), the M.Ed. licensure candidate is required to complete an action research project during a 3-semester-hour course that coincides with the 9-semester-hour student teaching experience or with school employment. This course, Education 5900 Culminating Experience, requires the student to implement an action research plan designed through (a) the Education 5010 Methods of Educational Research course, (b) a required learning assessment required during student teaching, or (c) a newly-designed project. The course is, also, taken by elementary and secondary teachers who are, already, licensed to teach. The action research projects, from spring semester 2017, are presented. This Action Research Project includes: (1) Student Transition into Ninth Grade (Jennifer Clemmer);… Continue Reading →

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT ABSTRACT The Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1986 is a large population-based birth cohort, which aims to promote health and wellbeing of the population. In this paper, we systematically review the psychiatric research performed in the cohort until today, i.e. at the age of 32 years of the cohort (2018). We conducted a systematic literature search using the databases of PubMed and Scopus and complemented it with a manual search. We found a total of 94 articles, which were classified as examining ADHD, emotional and behavioural problems, psychosis risk or other studies relating to psychiatric subjects. The articles are mainly based on two large comprehensive follow-up studies of the cohort and several substudies. The studies have often used also nationwide register… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Rigorous evidence from around the world has shown that significant improvements in learning can be obtained at comparatively low cost by spending more, focused time ensuring that the bottom half of the class in the early grades does not get left behind. The authors present results from the Teacher Community Assistant Initiative (TCAI) that tests the provision of remedial education as one possible solution to low learning levels in school. The theory of change of this program is simple: primary schools across the developing world fail to equip pupils with basic literacy and numeracy skills, often because schools are not able to target teaching to the actual learning levels of pupils. TCAI data collection included a baseline, 6 rolling midlines and 2 endline surveys. Preliminary results from… Continue Reading →

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: Abstract Abstract The aim of the study was to conduct a systematic review in order to synthesize the evidence-based literature on mathematics education among students with visual impairment (VI). Studies were identified through searches of electronic databases (SCOPUS, PubMed, ERIC, and Web of Science). The authors included articles published between 1 January 2000 and 31 October 2017. Eleven publications met the inclusion criteria, and seven studies had observational designs. The studies focused on teachers’ attitudes and experiences, the use of abacus, tactile graphics, and the development of mathematical concepts. The results showed that the studies had different aims and methods, and only four studies reported eye disorder diagnoses. The ability to choose suitable teaching strategies that involve individual instructions requires… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) supports research that contributes to the identification of effective strategies for improving the performance of current teachers and other instructional personnel, and related services providers in ways that increase student learning and achievement, social and behavioral skills, and high school transition outcomes for students with or at risk for disabilities. This report presents highlights of NCSER-funded research that: (1) targets teacher data-based decision-making; (2) content area professional development in language, reading and math; (3) professional development for early childhood teachers; (4) professional development for teachers of children with autism spectrum disorders; and (5) tools for evaluating special education teachers.
