eric.ed.gov har udgivet: HIPPY targeted parents of children zoned to 100 Houston Independent School District (HISD) elementary campuses during the 2018-2019 academic year, which reflected an increase from 80 campuses the previous year. Academic performance of students whose parents participated in HIPPY was assessed using the kindergarten 2018 Logramos and Iowa assessments, the prekindergarten CIRCLE assessment, and the combined English and Spanish STAAR 3-8. HIPPY kindergarten students attained higher mean normal curve equivalent (NCE) scores on the Logramos reading and mathematics subtests compared to the district, and comparable Iowa mathematics subtest scores as the district. CIRCLE results revealed that the majority of HIPPY students met benchmark by EOY on English and Spanish mathematics subtests. A lack of access to quality education and severe shortage of skilled trained educators is perpetuating vestiges of the old apartheid state in the nation. Approximately 6,000 students graduate from South Africa’s teacher training programs each year to meet the demand of over 12.1 million learners (Evoh, 2007). This study examines the current crisis facing the educational system of post-apartheid South Africa and more specifically how the LEAP (Langa Educational Assistance Program) school of Science and Maths could be used as a possible model for institutional educational change that may be applied on a national scale. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This brief examines California’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), which is a framework designed to identify and assist students performing below grade level. MTSS involves at least three tiers of support; Tier 2 includes personalized assistance. Unfortunately, Tier 2 services are not adequately resourced so it is not surprising that California students rank only 38th in the nation in reading and math. To move higher, it is important that the state provide categorical funding for Tier 2 services. California teachers already have a full-time job. To successfully implement MTSS, they need additional Tier 2 personnel (e.g., paraprofessional instructional aides and trained clerical staff to manage student progress monitoring) to assist them. This report provides an in-depth look at the implementation of SunBay Digital Mathematics (SunBay Math) during the second year of an i3 validation project, in two large Florida districts. SunBay Math is a set of middle-school curriculum replacement units centered on the use of technology-based, dynamically linked representations to learn core mathematical concepts. We focus specifically on patterns and relationships between instructional practices and instructional quality in 26 videotaped lesson enactments that were purposefully collected to represent variation in implementation. One intervention, “Red Light, Purple Light Circle Time Games” (RLPL; Tominey and McClelland, 2011; Schmitt et al., 2015), includes music and movement games that aim to foster self-regulation skills. The present study (N = 157) focused on children from families with low-income and compared the RLPL intervention (SR) to a revised version of RLPL that included literacy and math content (SR+) and a Business-As-Usual (BAU) control group. In both versions of the intervention, teachers were trained to administer the self-regulation intervention in preschool classrooms with coaching support. The recommendations provided have been entirely or partially adapted by more than 47 states of the US. HED is pursuing these goals through the following initiatives: (1) Statewide common course numbering and alignment of lower division coursework; (2) Developing meta-majors and transfer modules; (3) Reforming the general education core curriculum; (4) Co-requisite remediation and Math pathways; (5) Decreasing the number of hours required for both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees; (6) Incentivizing 4-year graduation; and (7) Implementation of outcomes based funding.
