The sampling of the study was consisted of 30 teachers working with 6 years old children and their 120 students in public kindergartens and independent preschool classrooms in Erzurum City. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This study examined how principals in eight high-functioning elementary schools provide teacher supervision and evaluation to promote high levels of student achievement. Perceptions of teachers were measured to provide an understanding of which specific principal behaviors translated into better instructional practices within the selected schools. Schools were chosen based on their performance on both state communication arts and math standardized assessments, which were in the top 10% of all elementary schools in the state. Data were collected from 74 teachers using an online survey tool to assess perceptions about principals’ supervision within pre-observation and post-observation conferences. TechMath has provided strategies for creating highquality professional development by bringing together teachers, students, and business partners to allow teachers to design Problem-Based Learning (PBL) modules. Teachers reported that their participation enhanced their understanding of business applications for mathematics and science instruction. Results from surveys, questionnaires, and focus group sessions prompted recommendations for researchers, administrators, and practitioners interested in preparing students for STEM careers. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This study investigated factors from high school that might predict college persistence. The sample consisted of 7,271 participants in three waves of data collection (2002, 2004 and 2006) who participated in the Educational Longitudinal Study (ELS; U.S. Department of Education, 2008). A multinomial logistic regression mode was employed to distinguish those who persisted from those who did not. Results indicated that number of hours engaged in extracurricular activities and interaction with the math teacher outside of class distinguished those who persisted in a four-year college from those that did not. Recruitment and the retention of highly qualified educators in high need and/or rural school districts is a critical factor affecting the education and the possible career trajectory of students enrolled in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) related courses.
