Introduced by the federal Australian government in 2016 as a gate-keeping mechanism for students entering teacher education, we apply a four-dimensional framework to analyse LANTITE’s role as a reform measure aimed at improving teacher education, and its impact on shaping understandings of ‘teacher quality’ and ‘quality teacher education’ in relation to the broader field. In order to gauge current marketing practices in libraries, a survey and focus groups were conducted with 36 workshop participants primarily from libraries in Australia. The participants were from a wide range of library backgrounds and it was evident that the focus groups identified a wide range of practices. Participants discussed current marketing activities, highlighting some of the unique ways that libraries are marketing services and collections. Albeit focusing on a small cohort of children, the theory and methodology in the article could well be applied to children of immigrants from other cultures. In exploring the primary school experiences of children of Filipino immigrants in South Australia, symbolic interactionism as frame of analysis and in-depth interviews as research method have been utilised.
