There is a general assumption that children’s learning will be supported through placement in a special class with few students and one or more teachers present. The issues explored concern what educational practices unfold in these settings, i.e. what are the children learning, and how do they participate in the activities? The empirical study is based on video-recorded classroom interaction in eight ADHD-classes during a period of seven years, in total about 200 h. The authors present results from the Teacher Community Assistant Initiative (TCAI) that tests the provision of remedial education as one possible solution to low learning levels in school. The theory of change of this program is simple: primary schools across the developing world fail to equip pupils with basic literacy and numeracy skills, often because schools are not able to target teaching to the actual learning levels of pupils. The research sample was 40 children from four levels of primary education, ranging in age from (10) to (17) years, the research tools was two tests: a test was used for the evaluation of mathematics, and Teacher’s test of hyperactivity, and results found that deep deafness has led to the realization of the hypotheses established by the existence of a statistically significant inverse and intermediate correlation between hyperactivity and mathematical learning.
