The researcher leads sixteen in-service teachers and seven pre-service teachers to enter two indigenous tribes- “Cado” and “Jayama,” and design culture-based math modules for indigenous students of tribal elementary schools. Through five stages of guidance, including “preparation and planning,” “exploration and understanding,” “reading and design,” “comment and revision,” and “practice and reflection,” the participants work together to develop seven sets of culture-based math modules in total. At this point it becomes obvious they are not only well-below national standards, but they are experiencing such a degree of difficulty in learning maths that they are still working at a Year 1 level or below. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: This article is an overview of how Flin Flon School Division in Flin Flon, Manitoba, used money received through grant funding to revamp its math programming in order to meet the needs of the students within the division. A combination of standardized test scores and individual teacher assessments revealed where student mathematical understanding was lacking. Specific teachers were then trained in particular math programs purchased through this funding.
