tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Internationalisation of higher education and teacher education has been a key issue since the 1990s and many universities still attempt to increase student mobility ever since. Much research has been done on the topic of internationalisation and higher education, including teacher education trying to show how a certain programme impacts on students’ learning, especially intercultural learning when it comes to programmes in teacher education. These studies are often directed towards programmes that last several months or a whole year. The focus of this study is rather to explore if and in what way experiences in a two-week field study can contribute to a student teacher’s intercultural learning and professional development. The findings of the research show that even… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Longitudinal trends revealed an increase in the prevalence of HISD students with disabilities compared to all students in the district from the 2017-2018 to the 2018-2019 academic year (7.2% to 7.5%). Students with disabilities were more likely to be male and Hispanic with a learning disability. An over-representation of African American students was evident over the past four years compared to other ethnic groups. The Office of Special Education Services (OSES) staff offered more than 1,200 professional development opportunities to school administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders in targeted areas, including reading, math, writing, and behavior. eric.ed.gov har udgivet: The purpose of the research is to develop a valid and reliable attitude scale that can measure the attitudes of math and science teachers (315) and teacher candidates (105) towards mistakes and instant feedback. In the validity studies, the exploratory factor analysis was made with the SPS1S 8.0 package program after that the confirmatory factor analysis was made with Lisrel 8.8 software. To develop the scale; 1. Creation of Item Pool, 2. Obtaining Expert Opinion, 3. Creation of Pre-Trial Form, 4. Factor Analysis is made. According to factor analysis; Kaiser Meyer Olkin (KMO) rate; 0.808; Bartlett test result: 2148,354; Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient for the whole scale: 0.829. According to confirmatory factor analysis: Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) 0.022 (<0.05); p-Value for Test of Close… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Learning management systems (LMS) are web-based platforms used for enhancing and supporting classroom teaching or delivering online instruction. Much of the earlier research has focused on their technological features and implementations into instruction. However, investigating what and how teachers and students think about and experience with LMS based on their actual usage is needed to realize educational potential of these systems. This study aimed to investigate pre-service teachers’ lived experiences about taking courses through Moodle LMS. The research was designed as a qualitative study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through content analysis technique via Nvivo 7.0 software. The sample included 25 college students majoring in Computer and Instructional Technology Education at a state university in Turkey. Majority of the participants indicated that Moodle was… Continue Reading →

tandfonline.com har udgivet en rapport under søgningen “Teacher Education Mathematics”: Abstract Abstract Previous prevention programmes have largely focused on the emotion regulation strategy of cognitive reappraisal. The present study is a feasibility trial that evaluates a prevention programme that teaches cognitive reappraisal, acceptance and problem-solving strategies. Ninety-six Year 10 high school students were randomly allocated to either the intervention or control condition. All participants completed scales evaluating emotion regulation difficulties, depression, anxiety and anger at baseline, post-intervention and at 6-month follow-up. In addition, the intervention condition completed a workshop evaluation questionnaire at post-intervention that included qualitative items. Mixed models for repeated measures and content analysis were used to analyse the data. Results suggested there were no statistical differences between the conditions although effect sizes suggested a small advantage favouring the… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: According to the Department of Education, there are more than 2,000 teacher preparation programs (TPPs) in the United States, but despite these numbers, concerns remain about the quality and quantity of STEM teachers in the workforce. The UTeach teacher preparation program (TPP), founded at the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, is specifically designed to address these concerns by recruiting students directly from STEM majors and offering students the opportunity to receive a secondary STEM teaching certification alongside their STEM degree with no additional time in college. While UTeach has undoubtedly increased the number of teachers produced at universities that have adopted the program, questions remain as to the quality of those teachers when compared to other teachers in the workforce. UTeach has never had a… Continue Reading →

Principal self-efficacy describes a set of beliefs that enable a principal to enact policies and procedures that promote the effectiveness of a school. Principal self-efficacy beliefs are also important because they guide the leader’s actions and behaviors that affect expectations for students as well as teachers’ motivation and school improvement processes. In this qualitative case study, we sought to understand teachers’ perceptions of how the self-efficacy beliefs and actions of the principal contributed to the school’s collective efficacy. The study featured a single embedded case design highlighting one high poverty rural middle school with very high… Continue Reading →

eric.ed.gov har udgivet: Current educational reform in mathematics education reflects attempts to incorporate the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The CCSS decrees both content standards and mathematical practices (process standards) that students should master if they are to be sufficiently prepared for college or a career. This paper investigates the confidence reported by 16 deaf/hard of hearing high school teachers in their ability to teach all of the mathematical standards and practices, as well as their confidence in their students’ ability to learn the same. Results suggest that differences in these teachers’ confidence, as well as their confidence in their students’ ability, is directly related to differences between teachers with a college-level math qualification and teachers with no tertiary math qualification. Self-identified needs are distilled into suggested topics for, and… Continue Reading →
